Safety and your money

Is my money safe? Can LoopTrading withdraw?

Your funds never leave your exchange account. Loops trade through an API key you create and scope to trading only — never withdrawals. You can pause, stop, or sell a loop’s position at any time from its page, and pause, sell-only or stop every loop at once from the top of your Loops list. Deleting the key at your exchange is the final off switch: without it LoopTrading cannot place an order. Trading itself still carries real risk — only trade what you can afford to lose.

How LoopTrading handles security

How are my API keys protected?

The secret half of your key is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is stored, and it is only decrypted on LoopTrading’s servers to talk to your exchange. When you connect, LoopTrading checks the key with the exchange and refuses it if the exchange reports withdrawal or transfer permission. You stay in control: revoking the key at your exchange cuts LoopTrading off immediately.

Is LoopTrading a broker or an exchange?

No. LoopTrading is software that places orders on your behalf through the exchange account you already have. It never holds your money or coins, and it is not a bank, broker-dealer, exchange, investment adviser or custodian — nothing is FDIC or SIPC insured. Your account, balances and identity checks all stay with your exchange.

Can I lose money?

Yes. Loops buy and sell real crypto, and prices can fall further than any setting expects. The no-loss guard only stops routine sells that would not cover cost plus fees — it does not cap how far a held coin can fall, does not guarantee a fill price, and does not hold back a stop-loss you chose. A stop-loss is optional and off by default for most strategies. Only trade what you can afford to lose.

Something is wrong — how do I stop everything?

Open your Loops list and use Stop all, which keeps your coins, or Sell-only all, which keeps exits running and stops new buys. If you want out completely, sell the coins on your exchange yourself — they are sitting in your account as ordinary holdings. The ultimate off switch is deleting the API key at the exchange. During an outage on our side loops place no orders and run no automatic exits; your positions stay as coins in your exchange account.

What happens if LoopTrading or my exchange goes down?

If LoopTrading’s engine is down, loops place no orders and run no automatic exits — stop-losses included — until it is back, and your coins simply stay in your exchange account. If the exchange itself errors or limits requests, the loop stays on, skips that check and tries again on the next one. The public Status page shows whether the trading engine is running right now.

Getting started

What do I need to get started?

An account at Binance.US, Kraken and Coinbase Advanced with some funds in it, and an API key you create there with trading allowed and withdrawals off. Sign up, open Connect exchange, paste the key and secret — LoopTrading checks the key with the exchange before saving it — then create your first loop. Once you have an account you can also try every strategy in the Sandbox before connecting anything.

Which exchanges are supported?

Binance.US, Kraken and Coinbase Advanced. Other exchanges are not available yet, and LoopTrading only ever connects to an account you already hold at one of these.

How much money do I need?

LoopTrading has no minimum of its own, but every exchange has a minimum order size, and a loop’s order size has to sit comfortably above it — at least one and a half times the exchange minimum, more with a stop-loss — so the loop can always sell what it bought. The create page shows the exact floor for the pair you pick, and suggests a first loop of about $25–$50 while you learn how it behaves.

Can I try it without risking money?

Yes, two ways. Right now, with no account: looptrading.net/try runs any strategy in your browser on made-up prices with sample money. With a free account (no exchange connection needed), the full Sandbox replays real price history with every setting. The Sandbox runs a strategy against synthetic or historical prices with no real orders — it shows how the rules behave, not what will happen. Neither ever places an order.

Why was my API key rejected?

The usual causes: the key has withdrawal or transfer permission (LoopTrading refuses those), it is missing trading permission, it has an IP restriction that does not match what the Connect exchange page tells you to use, it is a Coinbase key of the wrong type (Coinbase keys must be ECDSA — Ed25519 keys are refused), or the same exchange account is already linked to another LoopTrading account. The Connect exchange page lists the exact permissions each exchange needs.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in your phone’s browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. There is no App Store or Google Play app.

How loops behave

What do the default settings do?

A new loop buys 3% below its anchor price and sells 3% above what it paid, rides winners with a 1% trailing stop, refuses to sell at a loss after fees, compounds 100% of each profit into the next buy, and uses instant market orders. The no-loss sell guard is on by default for every strategy except Trend Loop, which needs to be able to exit on a signal. Advanced options during creation change any of it.

Which strategy should I pick?

That depends on the market and your goals, and neither Loopy nor LoopTrading gives financial advice. Mechanically: Grid Loop suits choppy sideways prices, Grid Ladder adds deeper dip-buying with one whole-stack exit, Dynamic Grid gives each rung its own sell and re-arms it, Reverse Loop is for coins you already hold, Range Loop trades hard dollar bands you set, Time Loop (DCA) accumulates on a schedule, Stack Loop stacks dips and exits the whole stack at a profit target, Trend Loop follows moving-average crossovers and takes small losses on flips, Trailing Stop rides one wave out, and Listing Sniper chases brand-new listings and is the riskiest of the set. With a free account, the Sandbox runs any of them against synthetic or historical prices with no real orders first.

Why would a loop not be trading?

Usually one of four things: it is waiting for the price to reach its buy or sell trigger, the exchange balance is below the order size, the no-loss guard is holding a sell until it clears costs and fees, or the loop is paused or stopped. Each loop’s Recent decisions log states which, in plain language, for every evaluation.

What happens if the price keeps falling after a loop buys?

The loop holds the coins and waits. With the no-loss guard on — the default — it will not sell below what the position cost plus fees, so it can wait a long time with that money tied up. If you set a stop-loss, it sells at that loss instead of waiting. Nothing guarantees the price comes back.

Why did a loop sell below its target price?

Two normal reasons. Ride the wave is on by default: when the target is hit the loop follows the price up and sells on a 1% pullback from the peak, so if the price turns right at the target the sale lands just under it. And loops use market orders by default, which fill at the best price available at that moment, not a promised one.

Can I run several loops on the same coin?

Yes. Each loop tracks its own position and profit. They do share the same exchange balance, so one loop can spend money another was counting on — keep an eye on your available funds when you stack loops on one account.

How many loops can I run?

Up to 10 at once. The count includes every running loop, plus any paused or stopped loop that still holds coins, because LoopTrading still has to be able to sell those.

Pricing and your account

How much does LoopTrading cost?

Every feature is free for 30 days, with no card needed to start. After that it is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. There are no profit cuts, no per-trade fees from LoopTrading and no tiers — your exchange still charges its own trading fees.

What happens when my free trial ends?

You get reminder emails 7 days and 1 day before. If you have not subscribed by the end, new buys stop: loops holding coins switch to exit-only, so their take-profit, trailing and stop-loss exits keep working, and loops holding nothing pause. Nothing is sold automatically and your coins stay on your exchange. Subscribe any time and resume buying when you are ready.

Can I cancel? Do you give refunds?

Cancel any time from Billing and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Charges are not refunded once made, except where the law or the checkout terms say otherwise, and a cancelled yearly plan is not prorated. Yearly plans get a reminder before each renewal.

Read the terms

What fees will I pay?

LoopTrading charges only the subscription. Your exchange charges its own trading fee on every buy and every sell, so a loop’s spread has to beat two fees before it makes anything. The create page shows that math for your settings, and the profit LoopTrading reports for a loop is net of those fees.

How do I get my trade history for taxes?

Settings has an Export trade history (CSV) button: one row per filled order, including fees, plus any one-off Convert trades, which you can hand to an accountant or import into tax software. LoopTrading does not give tax advice.

What emails will I get, and can I turn them off?

By default you get an email for every fill, an alert when a loop hits an error, and a profit-and-loss summary on the schedule you pick (hourly, daily, weekly or monthly). Each can be switched off in Settings under Notifications. Billing and security emails always go out.

Can I turn on two-factor authentication?

Yes. Settings lets you add an authenticator app, with recovery codes in case you lose your phone. With it on, connecting an exchange key also asks for a code. Email addresses are verified before a password sign-in works.

How do I delete my account?

First archive every loop and make sure nothing is still held or waiting on an order. Then delete the account from Settings by typing DELETE and your password (plus a 2FA code if you use one). Your identity and exchange keys are erased; de-identified trade records are kept because financial and tax rules require them.

Is my performance public?

Only if you choose. The Top Loops board is opt-in per loop and off by default. A listed loop appears under a random handle and shows percentages, cycle counts and age — never your name, dollar amounts or settings.
